Magnus Brunner

Since December 2024, Magnus Brunner is the European Commissioner for Internal Affairs and Migration. Prior to his current role, Mr Brunner served as Austria's Federal Minister of Finance from December 2021 to November 2024. He also held the position of State Secretary in the Ministry of Climate Action, Energy, Environment, Mobility Innovation, and Technology. Earlier in his career, he was a member of the Federal Council for the Austrian People's Party (ÖVP) from May 2009 to January 2020.

Since May 2016, Olivier Onidi is Deputy Director-General of the Directorate-General for Migration and Home Affairs (DG HOME) at the European Commission with particular responsibility over Schengen and Internal Security. In this capacity, he oversees the activities in the fields of Schengen, borders, information systems, innovation, terrorism and violent extremism, organized crime and cybersecurity. Since July 2022, Olivier Onidi is also the EU Schengen Coordinator.

Marta Cygan is currently Director of Audit and Innovation Directorate in Directorate-General Migration and Home Affairs in the European Commission in Brussels.  

Before she was Director of Strategy and General Affairs in the same Directorate-General, and in the years 2009-2013 she was Director for Migration, Borders and External Relations in the Justice Liberty and Security Directorate-General.  

Between 2004 and 2009 she was Deputy Head of Cabinet of the European Commissioner responsible for Regional Policy, Danuta Huebner.  

Between 1996 and 2004 she served as First Counsellor in the Polish Mission in Brussels during negotiations of the Accession of Poland to the European Union, then in the Polish Permanent Representation to the European Union in the first year of Polish membership in the European Union.   

In 1993 she joined the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where she worked as Head of the European Law Section in the Legal and Treaties Department.  

Born in Krakow and of Polish nationality, she graduated in Law and Languages from Jagiellonian University in Krakow. She obtained a Diploma in Community Law by the College of Europe in Bruges and in European law and policies by European College in Parma.

Atun coordinates the 'Promoting disaster preparedness and resilience by co-developing stakeholder support tools for managing the systemic risk of compounding disasters' project (PARATUS, 2022-2026). Dr. Atun is the recipient of the Integrated Disaster Risk Management Society (IDRiM) Aniello Amendola 2024 Distinguished Service Award.

E2i embeds human-centered design within European security R&I. From 2018-21, Caroline led the EU-funded Cutting Crime Impact (CCI) project.

Denis Josse has been part of the French Army as a pharmacist and researcher (PhD in cellular & molecular biology) in the Toxicology Unit of the Biomedical Research Institute from 1995 to 2012 then moved to the Fire & Rescue Services, in the Alpes-Maritimes, where he is currently in charge of the pharmaceutical Services and of advising the Command on CBRN risk management. Besides, Denis Josse contributes to the education & training of the CBRN emergency responders. He is currently part of the CERIS expert group.

Isabelle provides expertise in strategic planning support for security related capability development and innovation management.

Darek Saunders is the deputising Head of the Frontex Research and Innovation Unit. He is responsible for delivering cutting-edge solutions that address the evolving operational requirements, ensuring that the EBCG can effectively respond to emerging challenges and opportunities. He joined the Frontex Risk Analysis Unit in 2010, and the Research and Innovation Unit in 2018. Darek previously served in the United Nations Security and Safety Service in New York and at the NATO Headquarters in Mons, Belgium. He is a graduate of the Military Academy of Technology in Warsaw and served in the Polish Army as a commissioned officer at both Operational and Strategic levels.
