Security Innovation Award

The European Commission (DG HOME) is happy to announce the 2023 Security Innovation Award, which will be presented in Brussels on the 24th of October 2023, at the occasion of the Security Research Event 2023. This award is intended to raise awareness of the impact of EU-funded research in the field of Civil Security and recognise the best examples of Security Research Uptake success stories. This award recognizes the projects which have gone above and beyond to ensure that the innovations they are developing are beneficial for the security of EU citizens.

The European Commission invites innovators to submit applications (one application per solution; one innovator can submit more than one application) detailing the impact that their innovative solution had in the area of civil security. The following eligibility criteria apply:

  • Participation in the Award is voluntary;
  • Participation in the Award is open to all innovators involved in concluded FP7-SECURITY, H2020-SC7 project consortia;
  • Innovators are eligible to submit an application for as many of their innovative solutions as they wish, but solutions must come from EU-funded security research;
  • The innovator must present an innovative solution, which is deployed;
  • The innovator cannot submit the same innovation which has been found winner in the past edition of this Award.
  • Applications must be received by 28 June 2023, 20.00 CET.
